Looking back on these vintage ads, there certainly appears to be a theme going. This generally includes some sort of woman who dreams of being a wife, with a husband to cook and clean for. These days, we understand that women have a lot more diverse expectations for how they want their lives to look like, and relationships are more complex.
This mouthwash ad from 1928, however, was pretty typical of this time, saying that young women would never be a bride, should they continue having bad breath.
