Throughout the 1900s, the advertising companies directed their promotions towards women when it came to household appliances and goods, seeing as, according to them, it was only women who would be using such products, which made them their target market.
Although women did use these products, and still use them these days, we can all say that our understanding of equality in the kitchen is a lot more developed. What used to be called a ‘wifesaver’ could probably be called a general humansaver today.
