If you’ve ever been sitting on a train or a bus and wondered what these little dots are at the bottom of the windows, prepare for a lengthy and complicated answer! They actually serve a pretty intense scientific purpose.
It’s a series of ceramic paint dots baked into the glass itself, and they prevent UV light from making the window sealant lose strength over time. It also helps prevent people from actually seeing the sealant, which means the people in charge of the windows don’t have to be as careful. Definitely a win-win there.
