If these mystery photos have taught us anything, it’s that bugs are weird. Like, really weird. There are tons of different species out there, and while some of them look cuddly and harmless, others tend to look quite threatening. This guy might not be covered in spikes or anything like that, but its appearance makes it look like it just jumped out of the pages of a sci-fi novel.
It is, in fact, a caterpillar of a type of moth known as a Sphinx moth. Sphinx moths are large and graceful, and they don’t look much like their caterpillars.
