Photos used to be way different than they are now. Nowadays we can just whip our phones out from our pockets and snap a few selfies with friends whenever we want. But taking pics in the 1800s was for more arduous. It took hiring a professional and setting aside a lot of time.
This photo from the 1860s was posted not because of the photo itself, but because the poster was curious as to what the little girl was holding. Apparently it was an instrument called a flutina accordion, which was the predecessor to what we call the accordion.
