Rick Mason, Natasha’s gofer, only makes several brief appearances, during which his primary characterization seems to be suffering from narcolepsy. Nevertheless, he’s still based on a comic-book character, however obscure. Debuting in his own graphic novel, Rick Mason, The Agent, he was a very different man.

In the comic, Mason’s a freelance spy and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, rather than someone who procures illegal items. Also, the original Rick’s the son of little-known Spider-Man villain The Tinkerer, real name Phineas Mason. However, since he’s already appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming, played by an actor only four years older than O. T. Fagbenle, they probably aren’t related in the MCU.
