Joss Whedon isn’t very popular right now, but Marvel fans got an early start on hating him back in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. As part of their will they-won’t they romantic subplot, Natasha and Bruce Banner discuss having kids. Natasha reveals that part of the Red Room’s “graduation ceremony” was sterilization, and suggests that she’s a monster for not being able to conceive.
Black Widow paid that movie, and its writer-director, back by having Yelena go into extremely graphic detail about what the process entailed. Best part? That’s all partially thanks to Florence Pugh herself, who was grossed out by the original scrip’s lame menstruation joke.
