At first glance, you probably have no idea what is going on in this photo. It almost looks like those leeks are being interviewed for a news program. But in reality, this is a photo of supermarket items being checked for radiation after the Chernobyl explosion. It may not be the most “natural” disaster of all time, but it’s still one of the most well-known disasters to ever really occur.
The radiation that was emitted into the nearby (and not so nearby) landscape was utterly devastating, and the effects of it are still felt to this day.
