There has always been pressure on elite athletes, but it seems that burden weighed more heavily on them in the past. This is the famous soccer star, Sir Bobby Charlton, during his playing career with Manchester United in 1969.
Thanks to his combover hairstyle and wrinkled eyes, Charlton seemed much older than just 32 years old. Fans in the stands were also a lot more vocal and rowdy than they are today, which can’t have been fun for any player listening to chants about them.
