Archers were very important for any castle, as they were able to take out foes from a long distance. However, as with anybody else, archers needed to be protected as when they were firing, they were vulnerable to attack. In addition to arrow slits, you’d also see embrasures implemented.
You can see what they look like in the picture, and you can tell just how useful they’d be for people firing any type of weapon (really). This combination of elements made the lives of archers just a little bit easier.
