[post_page_title]Needing a dam with a moat[/post_page_title]
If a castle were to be designed with a moat, then the water would need to be controlled to prevent disaster. The best way to do that is with a dam, and that’s exactly what some medieval castles would have with their moats.
To get the water into the moat, it would come from a larger source, such as a lake or even a river. Dams weren’t seen in all castles, but they were prevalent with the castles that were surrounded by moats for enhanced protection.
