The inner courtyard was a little livelier than the outer courtyard when it came to your typical medieval castle. And when we say that it’s a bit livelier, we mean it was a lot livelier.
Then again, the outer courtyard was just as important as the inner courtyard, as it was responsible for a number of things. From allowing the soldiers to practice their combat to tending to horses and pigs, this area had its usefulness that those in the castle relied on.
