It’s not uncommon for people to interchange donjon and dungeon as if the two were the same word. Yet, the two were very different things. Here’s what you need to know about what a donjon would accomplish.
This was a tower with many floors that would act as the final stand for defenders. It was not unusual for the lord to keep his command room there, as well. For the record, you’ll also see and hear people refer to the donjon as the keep.
