[post_page_title]Being prepared for the worst[/post_page_title]
Preparing for the worst is something that we even do today. Though you hope the worst never comes, it’s always better to be prepared for it. Such was the philosophy of so many when they designed medieval castles, as they’d often feature secret passageways.
If all areas of a castle were breached, these secret tunnels could be used for the defenders to get a final escape. Inside the castle walls, they were also sometimes used for spying purposes. It always needed to be known if everyone was playing for the right team.
