There should be a rule: whenever someone gets up from the couch while watching a movie; or if someone gets up from the dinner table to grab something from the kitchen – they should always ask “does anyone need anything while I’m up?” It would avoid so many frustrations – on both sides.
The person still sitting wouldn’t need to go through the discomfort of asking the other person to go out of their way for them, whilst the one standing won’t be bothered if someone asks for something – because they already offered. It’s a win-win situation.
