It’s not hard to see the story of this photograph, but it goes deeper than many people would probably think. The woman in the photo is Major Terri Gurrola and in 2007, she was deployed to Iraq.
The problem for her, and it was for so many soldiers who were deployed at that time, is that she had to leave her daughter (which she said was the hardest thing she had to do). Coming home to visit, Gurrola was met by her daughter in the airport, and you can see the emotional results.
