Ever wondered why Shrek looks the way he does? The wild imagination of the movie creators wasn’t the only source of his final appearance. They were actually inspired by a real person.
Maurice Tillet was born in early 1900’s Russia, and led a very unusual life. He was extremely intelligent, and even spoke 14 languages. But, due to a rare disease his bones grew disproportionally large, making him look different and according to many, scary. But Maurice turned lemons to lemonade, and used his massive physique to become a successful wrestler. Hopefully he would have been flattered to serve as inspiration for Shrek.
