Like most animated family movies that have come since the 2000s, Shrek isn’t scared to get some adult jokes in here and there. This is a pretty great one, when Ariel from The Little Mermaid makes a naughty cameo in the opening scene of Shrek 2.
The movie starts with a montage from Shrek and Fiona’s honeymoon, and one scene shows them embracing and kissing on the beach. But then a wave comes in, knocks Fiona to the side, and suddenly Shrek is kissing a mermaid that looks suspiciously similar to Ariel. When Fiona angrily pulls her off of her new husband, we also see that the mermaid’s bra is purple, just like Ariel’s.
