In Shrek 2, King Harold desperately wants his daughter Fiona to fall in love with Prince Charming. So instead of accepting her adamant no, he decides to give her a love potion. As you do when your daughter doesn’t want the man you’ve chosen for her (not).
The potion has IX on it, which is the roman numeral nine. This means it’s love potion number nine, which is clearly a reference to the silly 1992 rom-com Love Potion No. 9.
