Maybe it comes from our roots in rebellion, but Americans do honor our military. Perhaps it’s because we’ve never had a king, so our military has always worked for the people. In essence, we feel that they sacrifice their lives so that we can simply exist. But it’s easy to see how there’s a tipping point into something more akin to “Hail Hydra” territory.
Especially when it’s someone from Germany seeing how we put people in uniform up on a pedestal, it could probably seem a little — too familiar.
