Another criticism that Ellen has faced lately has been that she is friends with the wrong people. This one is hugely debatable, as it really depends on your feelings on the people that she hangs around, but it is still something that people are quite upset about.
There are a few examples of this, but the most potent is perhaps her relationship with Kevin Hart. During a 2019 interview with the comedian, she seemed to try way too hard to defend his past offensive actions, and it left a bad taste in some peoples’ mouths.
