On Katy Perry’s birthday, Ellen posted a tweet wishing her a happy birthday and saying that “it’s time to bring out the big balloons,” with this accompanying image. The double entendre in her twitter post did not go unnoticed.
Her fans were not impressed, saying that Ellen was contradicting her contribution to the #MeToo movement, and saying that she was being disrespectful, not showing love and kindness to the movement that advocated for female empowerment.
