Ever since we were introduced to the concept of Celestials in Guardians of the Galaxy, we started noticing them popping up more and more. So the fact that the people of Sekaar probably heard of them and revered them makes sense.
We can see evidence for this in Thor Ragnarok: the bartender robot in the gladiator arena is actually designed to look like a Celestial. It’s a nice world-building touch that enriches the world of the film.
