[post_page_title]Multiple actors – multiple characters (Noah)[/post_page_title]
Darren Aronofsky’s Noah was an epic of biblical proportions – literally, as it dealt with the story of Noah and his family from the Book of Genesis. Once fairly common, and often wildly successful, Hollywood kind of stopped making biblical epics – and Noah may just illustrate why.
The movie starred A-listers like Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, and Emma Watson, so it certainly didn’t lack any star power. What it did lack, however, was diversity – the entire principal cast, portraying characters from the ancient Middle East, was white. Screenwriter Ari Handel defended the decision, saying that since it was a mythical story, the actors’ race didn’t matter.
