[post_page_title]Alec Guinness – multiple characters (multiple movies)[/post_page_title]
Most geeks only know Sir Alec Guinness from playing that “kind of a strange old hermit,” Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars movies. Besides his burning hatred for being associated with the role, the franchise, and its fans, Guinness was actually one of the finest British actors of his generation.
He appeared in many films considered to be classics – except that all too often he was playing characters of different races altogether. In Lawrence of Arabia, he was the Arab Prince Faisal, while in A Majority of One he was Japanese businessman Koichi Asano. Finally, in A Passage to India, he was Indian scholar Narayan Godbole.
