Many of our younger readers might not be aware of Kristy McNichol. However, she was a huge deal in the middle of the 1970s, and was a household name for her role as Letitia “Buddy” Lawrence in Family. Her acting was so good that she received four Emmy nominations, winning twice in 1977 and 1979.
Her acting career peaked in the 80s when rumors about her substance abuse were widespread and directors became hesitant to work with her. McNichol has retired from acting and now works as an acting teacher in a private school.
