[post_page_title]Royal babies are issued a passport at birth[/post_page_title]
In the Royal Family’s long history, royal prerogative meant having sway over matters of life and death. It was a one person, one vote system – and the only person whose vote counted was the sovereign. These days, the monarch’s been reduced to a strictly ceremonial role, but some privileges still remain.
For example, the Queen doesn’t need a driver’s license or passport, because they’re issued in her own name. Everyone else in the Royal Family does, however, leading to the custom of issuing passports to royal babies as soon as they’re born, so they’ll be ready to join their parents abroad if the need arises.
