[post_page_title]Prince Philip was born on a dining room table in Greece[/post_page_title]
The Queen and the only man she ever loved, Prince Philip, were actually third cousins, having both descended from Queen Victoria. Distant genetics is where the resemblance ended, though, as the circumstances of their births couldn’t be more different.

While Elizabeth was delivered in her grandparents’ luxurious London home, Philip emerged into the world on a dining room table, in his family’s rented summer villa in Corfu, Greece. Despite being Greek royalty, his family was destitute, and the villa had no power, hot water, or plumbing. Eighteen months later they left for France, with Philip carried in a cot made from an old orange box.
