[post_page_title]New school meets really old school[/post_page_title]
These days, the public probably learns about royal births from Instagram or Twitter, where royal couples’ official accounts break the happy news. While using these thoroughly modern methods, though, some traditions have a tendency to die hard with the Royal Family. Specifically, birth announcements are still posted on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace.
These announcements, previously handwritten and today typed out, are signed by the hospital’s delivering doctors and sent to the palace by car. When Prince William and Kate Middleton broke the news of Prince George’s birth online first, before the easel was posted, it was actually a scandalous break with tradition.
