There are many unusual positions within the Royal Household, such as the Astronomer Royal, a position that dates back to 1675 and still exists today, and the Piper to the Sovereign, whose job it is to play under the Queen’s window every weekday at 9am. The Royal Family also has a designated OB-GYN, who performs royal births.
The position’s previous holder, Marcus Setchell, postponed his retirement so he could deliver Prince George. Today, the position’s held by Alan Farthing, who delivered both Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – but Meghan Markle scandalously opted for her own female doctor because she reportedly didn’t want “men in suits” present.
