In medieval times, queens disappeared from public view for weeks after giving birth. Nowadays, royal mothers are expected to emerge from the hospital hours later, looking ready to walk a Paris runway. This somewhat problematic tradition can be traced back to Princess Diana.
However, while she posed with William and Harry a day after giving birth, her daughter-in-law Kate Middleton set a record by posing for photos seven hours after giving birth – in a dress AND heels, no less. Of course, she didn’t look amazing just because of her motherly glow. Two of the first people to see her were her stylist Natasha Archer and hairdresser Amanda Cook-Tucker.
