Did you ever wonder why useless memories in Inside Out are shaped like marbles? When we say useless, we mean memories that are not really important anymore, for example an old phone number, which we then forget to not waste brain power. In Inside Out, those memory marbles are eliminated.

This seems to be a play with words, since the phrase “loose your marbles” is used to describe someone going a little nuts and forgetting important things. But in Inside Out, at least in Riley’s young brain, the only marbles she’s losing are ones she doesn’t need anyway.
