Steve Jobs played a big part in Pixar, as he was one of the founders. He passed away in 2011, and Inside Out was the first original film to come out where Jobs wasn’t involved. So of coursed it paid tribute to him, in a few subtle ways.
The fact that the movie takes place in the San Francisco bay area is in itself a homage to Silicon Valley, which Steve Jobs was basically king of. Also, Riley’s dad has the latest iPhone. Jobs famously co-founded Apple and helped turn into the iconic company it is today.
