Today, Kate Mara is an Emmy-nominated Hollywood star, but in 2010 she was virtually unknown. That’s why she jumped at the opportunity to play an unnamed U.S. Marshal who serves a subpoena to Tony Stark in Iron Man 2.
She only had a couple of lines, but Mara claimed Marvel “hinted” that the role might become meatier down the line. We now know that never happened, but she did go on to play Marvel character Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four reboot. Incidentally, Mara’s Marshal character tells Tony she’s from Bedford – Mara’s actual hometown in New York.
