Comedian Larry Sanders made millions of people around the world laugh. What was no laughing matter, however, were his two brief roles in Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Sanders portrayed U.S. Senator Stern, who tries to (ab)use his position to convince the American people that Tony Stark is a menace.
In The Winter Soldier, we find out why – Stern was a secret agent of the HYDRA terrorist organization all along. Pretty heavy stuff, considering the character was named after Howard Stern. Nevertheless, Sanders said he was even more proud of providing comedy-related suggestions to Sam Rockwell, who played the film’s villain Justin Hammer.
