Chris Sullivan is most lauded for portraying Kate Pearson’s husband Toby on tearjerker This Is Us, but took a break from the hit show to play Ravager pirate Taserface Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Fearsome though he appears, Taserface is the epitome of trying too hard. He’s so lame, in fact, that director James Gunn vowed to never use him in the movie before changing his mind.
Still, no one was likely to recognize it was Sullivan under heavy prosthetics and make-up. The biggest difference between playing tortured joker Toby and a monstrous intergalactic space pirate, according to Sullivan? “A much better complexion”!
