Although The Beatles had separated, its massive success didn’t seem to slip away from its members’ individual music careers — especially John Lennon. The legendary musician had gone on to become a dedicated peace activist, as demonstrated by his recordings alongside his wife, Yoko Ono.
Being 40 years old, Lennon was shot by fan Mark David Chapman at the entrance of his house, apparently due to an opposition to the star’s lifestyle and ideologies. The photo you’re seeing depicts Lennon signing Chapman’s copy of Double Fantasy, merely hours before the event.
