At the end of Iron Man 2, Nick Fury and Tony talk about the Avengers Initiative. Put aside their witty banter for a moment, though, and take a look around at the room they’re occupying. It’s filled with holographic maps, with circles around activity related to potential Avengers, such as Thor, the Hulk, and… Namor?
Yes, one scene shows a circle around a central African country – obviously Wakanda, though Black Panther was still years away at that point. Just off the coast of Africa is another circle in the middle of the ocean – likely referring to one of Marvel’s first superheroes, Namor the Sub-Mariner.
