[post_page_title]Figures Zemo would appreciate him…[/post_page_title]
In episode three, when Sam and Bucky visit Helmut Zemo in a Berlin prison, Zemo’s shown reading a book titled Fortuna ist ein Reissender Fluss by Roger Masters. We won’t fault you if you didn’t think too much of it, considering it’s in German, but the book’s full English title is Fortune is a River: Leonardo da Vinci and Niccolo Machiavelli’s Magnificent Dream to Change the Course of Florentine History.
A mouthful, but it details the friendship between da Vinci and Machiavelli. There’s nothing groundbreaking about this – it’s just totally on-brand for the scheming Zemo to be interested in the man whose name became the inspiration for “machiavellian.”
