When TFATWS’s second episode fully introduces John Walker as the new Captain America, his alma mater’s band performs an up-tempo, updated version of Star Spangled Man with a Plan.
If that little ditty sounds familiar, it should – composed by EGOT winner Alan Menken, it was performed during a montage of Steve Rogers’s first tour of the U.S. as Captain America in Captain America: The First Avenger. Of course, the “Star Spangled Singers,” who performed the original, made it a little more ’40s. Just to drive the point that Walker is the new Cap home, the episode itself is titled “The Star-Spangled Man.”
