Not every single Marvel character gets a complex, intricate backstory. Karli Morgenthau aside, for example, most of her Flag Smashers don’t really get any character development… except for one. Nico, the grandson of an Allied soldier in World War II, idolized Steve Rogers when he was a child.
“He made me believe there were decent people in this world,” he reveals to Karli. There’s a bitter irony, then, in the fact that Nico dies at the business end of Captain America’s shield. Just imagine – the last thing this ex-Cap fan saw… was the new Captain America about to decapitate him.
