No one does throwbacks better than the MCU. In TFATWS’s third episode, Zemo, Sam, and Bucky need to get out of Madripoor quickly. Luckily, Zemo produces a stolen convertible they all need to squeeze into. After Bucky calls shotgun, Sam says dryly, “You’re not going to move your seat up, are you?” Bucky replies, “No.”
This is a fantastic callback to one of Captain America: Civil War’s funniest scenes. When Steve steals a Volkswagen Beetle, Sam gets to sit in the front and Bucky’s in the back. “Can you move your seat up?” Bucky asks. “No,” Sam replies, not knowing it’ll come back to bite him.
