We can see how accusing someone of shoplifting could be problematic, but this anti-theft strategy doesn’t sound like it would be super efficient, either; we wonder if it even helped at all.
According to this former Forever 21 employee, they weren’t allowed be upfront about the subject, even if they had clearly seen someone trying to steal something. Instead, they were supposed to walk to the shoplifters and, basically, say so much by saying so little.
