Every so often, Claire and Cal would get a reminder that they’re not quite there yet, amenities-wise. While they did own a washing machine, for instance, and even had the electricity to run it, it couldn’t handle the thick layer of Scottish mud that would cake on everyone’s work clothes and gloves.
Thinking outside the box, Claire went back to her ancestors – and washed them in a nearby stream! After giving them a good soak, she simply hung them to dry in the sun.
